Liza Tsitron was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up playing classical violin for the majority of her life until she was influenced deeply by an art class in high school. At that moment, before graduating high school, she committed herself to the practice of studying classical drawing and painting. As someone who was deeply inspired by Spanish painters, she went and studied in Spain at the Barcelona Academy of Art.
During her stay in Barcelona, Liza spent a lot of time studying the human figure and referencing live models. In her last year at the academy, she was granted a scholarship that had her teaching Anatomy and Portrait class to students. After graduating from the academy, Liza did a residency with Odd Nerdrum at his estate in Norway.
Currently, she is painting narrative works, commissions, and murals in NYC and continues to be influenced by the old masters.
